Recent Summit happenings...

Just a catch up post because there's more to come soon. First, here's a great pic of two of the guitars Sigmund Johannessen (Instructor at Summit) showed at the recent Montreal Guitar Show...

...and, just to show that it's not "all work and no play" here at The Summit School, here's a few pix taken at the School and around the neighbourhood...

2008 GAL Convention in Tacoma

The Guild of American Luthiers Nineteenth National Convention/Exhibition took place between June 11-15, 2008 at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, USA.

Of course, Summit School instructor Mike Jarvis was there, and so were Summit School students from times past and present.

Here's three photos to prove it...

Mike's the one paying attention to the presenter in the close-up :-)

International Feel

(title from a vintage Todd Rundgren tune)...

A lot more goes on during a student's stay at The Summit School than just guitar building, and students from all over the world share more than luthiery skills.

These photos are of some of our recent students after a Friday night Shabbat or Shabbos, (the pictures were taken after the meal). Adams’ parents came up visiting for the American Thanksgiving and on the Friday night invited all the instructors and students to the traditional Jewish meal, which Adam had wanted to share with everyone. After the meal the students went out to the beach and had the bonfire.

The students from left to right are: Stinni – (Iceland), Adam – (New York), Trevor – (Virginia), Monique – (British Columbia), John (Florida), Jay (British Columbia), and John – Adams’ brother here visiting Tyler – (New Jersey). In the last photo, Pete is in the picture at the end and he is from Massachusetts.

It was a good night.
